Registries
CFF - Cat Fanciers Federation - accepts both Neva and Traditional as same breed to be shown together, shows held on eastern US coast.
ACFA - American Cat Fanciers Association - accepts both Neva and Traditional as same breed to be shown together, also accepts Ragamuffins which ACFA accepts the Siberian as an outcross for this breed. We are not registered with this organization although most shows are midwest. We do not support the Siberian as a relatively new breed (imported 1991 USA) as an outcross for ANY other breed. We can register kittens with this organization if a serious show/breeder desires it done.
TICA - The International Cat Association - accepts both Neva and Traditional as same breed to be shown together, we are Traditional and do not breed Nevas. Therefore, we do adhere to the TICA standard as far as type but choose to exclude colorpoints from our program. We do love TICA for their shows, the attitudes of exhibitors and thier programs and policies. We adhere to the TICA code of Ethics.
CFA - Cat Fanciers Association - accepts both Neva and Traditional as same breed to be shown together, there isn't a separate color class for Siberians at this time because there aren't enough CFA registered Siberians to make this happen at this point. We are in the process of registering with CFA. When we started breeding, the Siberian wasn't accepted for Championship class, so Siberians in CFA is very new.
WCF - accepts both Neva and Traditional as same breed to be shown together, strong following of members both Traditional and Neva in Europe and Russia. World Cat Federation was one of the first to make a standard for the Siberian. The cattery Black in Moscow (behind our Rajjah and formerly Bella) is one of the first to make the standard for the Siberian.
FIFe - does not recognize Neva Masquerade. Feline International Feline is based in Europe but has clubs in Mexico and some parts of South America. It has not made its way to the US unfortunately. Hopefully when the economy improves this will be possible. FIFe sports the majority of Traditional breeders with a strong emphasis on health testing as well as written evaluations for every cat judged.
TCA - recognized Neva Masquerade and Traditional Siberian as two separate breeds. Sue of Captive Hearts (now passed very sadly as she was a good friend and mentor to us) wrote the article for the TCA and this is the only US association that separates the two. We do not belong to TCA as they do not host physical shows which we feel showing is the only way to see if our breeding program is on track as well as compare our cats to other breeds and see what other Siberians are out there. Showing doesn't make or break a breeding program but it surely says how "on" or "off" we are as far as type. Health, genetics ect are all additional to this.

http://www.thecatsite.com/ is a great resource on a variety of topics. Be sure to visit their forums.
http://pawpeds.com/ is a great resource with several pedigrees of Siberians listed in their database, a course on breeding which we highly recommend for anyone considering breeding Siberians or pedigree cats, and many English articles on the original texts of old that are translated and very informative of how the attitudes and looks on cats has changed over time.
http://www.cats.about.com/ is also a great resource.

Of Interest
http://bluedogstate.blogspot.com/ - Bluedog Blog - a great blog on animal rights vs animal welfare.
PetPAC - An organization that has been instrumental in promoting animal welfare and fighting AR groups attemping "total animal liberation" where pets, service dogs, police dogs and show breeds are extinct. We are a proud member of the Pet Political Action Committee. AKC, CFA and TICA are in support of the PetPAC mission. CA 1634 was the latest law that PETPAC did a great job making the opinion of the majority of Americans point of view known. We will keep fighting the AR agenda and continue to help responsible rescue groups through a portion of our kitten funds and our own personal money. We also make it a point to purchase items at shows that help local shelters. These laws take away our right to have pets and make decisions on their welfare. Many pet owners do spay/neuter (we support low cost, not mandatory) and its the feral cats that are being used as part of the propaganda of AR who are unadoptable. We support TNR.
We the People for Pets - A site dedicated to preserving our rights and battling pending legislation again rearing its ugly head in California.
http://www.freewebs.com/animalrightsandyou/ - To learn about Animal Rights and the truth of the "movement." There is a difference in AR and AW and we here at Moonandstarkatz support Animal Welfare.

In Memory of all those Pit Bulls put to death who shouldn't have been. Punish the Deed not the Breed. Michael Vicks dogs, some are in foster families even after their ordeal, so why are pit bulls being banned when there is no genetic evidence they are inherently evil. Imagine waking up one day to have Animal Control at your doorstep to take your dog, never to see it again, knowing its going to be put to death. The same dog that the night before was sleeping with a newborn baby, playing with the kitty, and licking your face to wake you up. Its sad when we lose a pet but this method is way into inhumanity as mankind can go. So in respect to the dogs that have become victim in a viscous animal rights agenda, (HSUS and PETA wanted vicks dogs killed while SPCA and other organizations adopted them) so to support the breeders, pet owners and responsible breeding of these wonderful dogs, we have chosen to link here. We do not own pit bulls nor do we plan to at this time but its sad that we legally CAN'T because they are illegal in my state.
